Jubilee School participated in the 2nd Global Christian Education Summit (hereinafter GCES) held from October 26th to 30th.

GCES is an association of Christian schools around the world and is held once a year. This year, due to the pandemic, all schedules were conducted online.

Many schools attending this Summit are able to learn and exchange the process of set-up by department from the beginning of the Christian school. In addition, there are various tracks for each field, allowing effective exchanges between schools of the same character.

Jubilee School participated in the music track to exchange with various Christian music schools and explore ways to develop together. In particular, the focus was on the mission plan through the music education program.

This GCES, which was held for five days, ended successfully in the grace of God.

Chapel Worship Team Opens Online Worship Concert

On October 24th, at 4pm, a Worship concert was held in the school concert hall. The concert was held as a collaboration between the school’s Chapel Worship Team and the Jubilee Church Worship Band. Because of the pandemic period, we had to do all the steps online, but the fever was the same as that of offline.

This concert was designed to provide opportunities for students living in various parts of the United States to worship together. After the pandemic, all the school contents were conducted online, and the chapel meeting was also divided into small meetings. This is because the number of members of the Worship Team living in Nashville was not sufficient, so it was difficult to prepare the same chapel size as before. Accordingly, the music director of Chapel was planning this concert with the Worship Band of Jubilee Church, which is in partnership with the school.

The song list prepared this time includes many old songs such as’So you would come’,’When I think about the Lord’,’No longer I’and’Habitation’.

“The lyrics of the old songs are really deep and the emotions of salvation are well expressed in them. So the meaning of the lyrics is kept to the fullest, but the music style is the current style, and we made it once.”

More than 80% of current students attended this concert online.

“It was so nice to be able to sing together after a long time. Praise seems to have a lot of power when we are together. The sound is so good that all the sounds are clear, so there was no problem with participating online. I wish there were many opportunities like this in the future. It’s good for us.”

The Chapel Worship Team plans to collaborate with the Worship Band of Jubilee Church in the future to provide this opportunity. In addition, in connection with Song Camp, it was decided to include students’ own songs.

In any situation, our heat of praise will continue to grow.

Jubilee School aims for a small office

Jubilee School aims to become a so-called’small office’ that makes office space more compact and expands space for students as much as possible for students’ more free campus life next year.

The school’s policy begins with the worries to maximize the creative ability of students.

Jubilees School cannot use the outside space as a campus life space, so it must meet the campus life of students within the school. Therefore, the school is focusing on creating an environment where students can collaborate anytime, anywhere by expanding the classroom and practice space on the second floor as much as possible.

As a result, the library space is moved to two places on the first floor that were formerly used as offices. And each class room is expected to be turned into a music-only class room where classes and music work can be done at the same time.

The basic environment of creation is freedom. Heaven is a place where free spirits can settle. Jubilee School hopes that the school will be such a place for musicians.

School Director ends her term

Dr. Kim has been a director since the beginning of school. She ended her long term of office last September.

She is like a school pioneer. In particular, it has contributed greatly to the operation of the current school by strengthening the current school administration system with a small number of administrative team members from the beginning.

As she left school, she prayed and blessed God for the future of the school. The administration team also blessed and prayed for her next mission journey.

We hope that God’s blessings will be full in her future.

Fall Quater begins

The 2020 fall quater began with classes on September 21st.

Like the previous quater, all classes are conducted online in this quater. In the last quater evaluation, the collaboration method between students, group lectures and 1:1 lecture collaboration, and flexible class time planning method, which students actively supported, were further upgraded and applied to this Quater.

The school has doubled the media department this time to help students clear all classes without a hitch. The effect was greatly revealed from the first day of class. The same phenomenon as before, where the flow of classes was cut off, disappeared as online communication was conducted almost without time lag.

The students expressed their great satisfaction with this and greatly raised their enthusiasm for the academic achievements of this fall quater 2020.

Meeting with seniors, “Find the meaning of your music in the Lord”

This fall quarter orientation was held on September 15th. Unlike in previous years, this orientation, which was held online, had a special order.

It was a meeting time with school seniors working as Christian music ministries across the country.

Three student seniors were willing to participate for the juniors. There was about an hour of testimony from seniors and questions from junior students.

Their common testimony was about the meaning of their music they found in the Lord.

“Everyone, what does it mean to do ministry with music? Maybe you have a vision for music ministry and you are now attending this school. Then, to my question I just asked you should have your clear confession. Music ministry means pastoring with music What is pastoring? It is to lead the sheep of the Lord to the Lord so that they can dwell in the Lord and do the work of the Lord, so I had to make a decision. Pastoring with music is beyond the world of musical self-satisfaction….”

This meeting with seniors provided a very beneficial experience for the students. Many students confessed that they came to take the role models of seniors who are playing the role of light and salt in the world in the Lord.

We are deeply grateful to the graduates who took the time in their busy lives to guide their juniors in the Lord’s way.

End of the 1st course registration period

On September 11, the first course registration period ended.

The first course registration period is a charge-free registration period, and if you register beyond this period, a late fee will be charged.

The total number of students enrolled in this fall quarter has decreased slightly compared to the previous year, but the number of subjects enrolled per student has increased. Perhaps the flexibility in time arrangements offered by online classes encouraged students to take more courses.

The second course registration period is until September 18th. If there are students who have not yet completed the course registration, I hope that they will finish well within the period.

This summer’s quarter’s academic achievement hits the top.

The summer quarter is completely over with the final exam period on the 4th.

As we saw in the last article, this quarter is very successful. And it’s also a period of accomplishing a lot.

Students’ academic achievement was higher than any other quarter. And many of the school’s facilities have been upgraded and well maintained in preparation for next year’s offline classes.

The biggest achievement would be the combined teaching method of concept lecture and 1 on 1 class. This method is a hybrid method in which both professors and students are satisfied. Perhaps even if the offline class is reopened next year, we think that this method will continue to be utilized.

In addition, the method of online classes is expected to be further developed for the remaining period.

Summer Quarter has finished well

All classes in the summer quarter on August 28th ended, leaving only the final exam period from August 31st to September 4th.

Although the server replacement and maintenance period were intertwined, this quarter was also well completed thanks to mutual cooperation between staff and professors.

One of the characteristics of this quarter is that the professors made good use of the characteristics of the online class to increase students’ academic achievement. The professors did not teach the class alone as they did in the existing offline class. Basic concept lectures were shortened and 1 on 1 classes were held with students so that all students in the class could follow the class without falling behind.

Students were also greatly satisfied with this teaching method, and their satisfaction was reflected in the teaching evaluation.

We applaud the various staff and professors who did their best for the successful summer quarter, and to all the students who followed well.

Reopening of the music library

The music library, which had been discontinued due to server maintenance and replacement work, will soon be reopened.

The server team checked all servers in the school last July. Among them, 30% of them are obsolete and their performance is significantly lowered, so the school completely replaced the old servers in August.

Among the servers being replaced, there is a server related to music library materials, so students were inevitably unable to use the music library for about two months in July and August.

However, the library team will provide even better services to students, such as reordering files and renewing the platform. Above all, it is said that some convenient functions are added to help students practice music analysis.

Currently, the setting is almost finished. The library team expects that students will be able to use the music library smoothly from mid-September.
